I am new to this world of blogging. I have read other people’s blogs and saw that many of them receive comments on their blog contributions. Some of their hits are in the thousands. Can anyone offer advice on what to write if you are looking for feedback on your writing. What makes a blog successfull? Is it the luck of the draw? Do we need software other than what wordpress offers? If anyone who has a successful blog can answer these questions I would appreciate it.

I have found that finding “blog friends” is the best way to get the comments (although, I started a new blog a few months ago so my hits aren’t huge!) I love Thursday Thirteen (which is http://www.thursdaythirteen.com for making friends). Also commenting on other peoples blogs more times than not brings them to check out your blog.
I don’t think you need software, but the tags used are helpful! I wish you tons of luck!

I don’t know much about blogs and can’t help you attract people, but I think that there’s something that might help until you get more. Maybe if you slowed down a little, more people who come here would read the blog, they won’t feel so overwhelmed by all the information you have already at one blog a day. If I know anything about you, it’s that you’re always full of ideas and could probably come up with five a day, especially since this is your start with blogging, but if you save them for another day, you can be confident that won’t run out of ideas and people will get to know you more easily and not get intimidated by the amount of writing.

Welcome to the world of blogging, I am new also. I don’t have the answer to your question. I think I’d be a bit overwhelmed if I had a thousand comments. O an just happy to have someone read mine. O disagree with the clowing down. If you have things to write about then write about them. If you put them off they may disappear and that story may be just what someone needed. You never know who your thoughts may touch. Keep up the writing.
