The Counting Crows recently released their new album. I love the Counting Crows and I’m sure the music on this album will be great. This week I decided to post my favorite Counting Crows Song-Colorblind. I could watch the movie Cruel Intentions repeatedly;the chemistry between Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philipe was steaming. It saddened me when they seperated, I really liked them together.

Happy Friday? What songs are you listening to?

Colorblind Lyrics

I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready, I am ready, I am…
taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready, I am ready
I am fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded and unfolded and unfolding
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready, I am ready,
I am fine
I am fine

Thirteen Things about Maribeth

Summer is quickly approaching and I am thrilled. The summer months are filled with a vibrancy that captivates me. Magnificent colors resurface making the world look crisp and new. Summer is cheerful and one of the most cheerful colors is orange. This week I will list 13 orange things.
Orange you glad you stopped by?

1.... Oranges (But of course, I love oranges and especially love a big glass of orange juice first thing in the morning)

2... Tiger Lilies (Gorgeous flower, I would love to have a vase filled with them)

3... Pumpkins (A smile carved into a pumpkin can cheer anyone up)

4... Creamsicles (Yum! I love creamsicles)

5... Orange Soda (Very nostalgic- it takes me back to my birthday parties as a little girl. Our beverage of choice was orange soda)

6... Harvest Moon (Breathtaking)

7... Traffic Cones

8... Tigers (Tony the Tiger is definitely orange)

9... Goldfish (We have a fish tank filled with very large orange goldfish)

10...Carrots (My son's favorite vegetable)

11...Sweet Potatoes (With butter and brown sugar-heavenly)

12... Life Jackets (I wore many orange life jackets when I was a little girl)

13... Jax (This junk food treat could become very addicting quickly)

Friends, they are beautiful gifts we receive in life. I have been blessed with many friends and they have got me through so many things in life. Each one of them has been very special to me for different reasons. I have had friends my age, friends younger, friends older and friends of all races. When you really pay attention to another person, you find that we all have similarities. We all have highs in life, lows in life, temptations, loves, hates, disappointments, guilty pleasures and many roads to travel. Sometimes the roads take us in different directions, but still the impact friends leave make the road traveled a bit easier or in some cases a bit harder.

Anyway, this week I am dedicating the Friday Song to My Friends. Thanks for helping me be me!
I hope I have done the same for you.

Happy Friday.

This week’s song is WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS SUNG BY JOE COCKER.

Lyrics
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song
And I’ll try not to sing out of key.

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends

What do I do when my love is away
(Does it worry you to be alone?)
How do I feel by the end of the day,
(Are you sad because you’re on your own?)

No, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends

Do you need anybody
I need somebody to love
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.

Would you believe in a love at first sight
Yes, I’m certain that it happens all the time
What do you see when you turn out the light
I can’t tell you but I know it’s mine,

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends

Do you need anybody
I just need someone to love
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
With a little help from my friends.

Thirteen Things about Maribeth

Wouldn’t it be neat to fly? I mean really fly, soaring high above with wings all of our own. The beauty we would see and the freedom we would feel. I hope Heaven provides wings.

This week I wrote 13 things with wings. Some are from the bird family, but they are birds I love.

Find your wings and fly to a place you always wanted to go, bring an extra set in case someone along the way tries to clip yours.

1… Angels (I love angels! I can only imagine how beautiful their wings would appear once spread)

2…Airplanes (Okay, so they are man made, but they work-most of the time)

3…Butterflies (The beauty in their wings is unbelievable. A masterpiece like no other)

4… Fairies (Maybe they aren’t real, but I like the idea of them)

5… Bats (Ugh-I really really do not like these creatures)

6… Pterosaurs (also known as pterodactyls-flying reptiles –scary)

7… Lady Bugs (Finding a ladybug always makes me smile.)

8… Hair (Farrah Faucet sported the wing or feathered look back in the day. Today, teenagers and skateboarders like the popular wing haircut)

9… Cupid (According to Roman Mythology he is the God of erotic love and beauty. He is the guy responsible for many people finding love on Valentines Day.)

10… Penguins (Their wings are known as flippers. They use their flippers to propel themselves through water. They cannot fly)

11… Swans (One of the most magnificent creatures on earth. Elegant, graceful and they make flying look easy)

12… Doves (I love doves; there is a dove that greets me each morning. I am starting to think it may be my guardian angel)

13… Peacocks (Another gorgeous bird. Their plumage is too heavy which prevents them from being able to fly)

Thirteen Things about Maribeth

This past weekend I accompanied my daughter to NYC for a brownie trip. We had such a great day that will forever be remembered. It was her fist time there which made it even more exciting. We visited the Museum of Natural History, shopped at street vendors, rode in a cab, had our caricature done and saw the show STOMP. We loved the show, the performers were entertaining and very talented. It amazed me at their ability to create music from random every day things. This week I will list 13 things they used to make music.
Have you ever seen the show?

1…. Brooms (they started the show with the whole cast making music by sweeping the stage)

2…Powder or Flour (They sprinkled it onto the stage and kicked it around also creating a funky beat)

3…Sinks (This part was so fun. They actually came out with sinks around their necks filled with water)

4…Plungers

5… Garbage Cans (used mainly as a drum)

6… Garbage Can Lids (Sounded like cymbals)

7… Newspapers (Who would have thought, but some how they pulled it off)

8…An assortment of Bags (Garbage bags, brown paper bags etc)

9… Soda Cup and straw (squeaky but clever)

10… Playing Cards

11…Hands (lots of clapping and awesome audience participation)

12…Barrels

13…Tubes

If you haven’t checked out STOMP and you love creativity-it’s a must see.

LAST YEAR MY FATHER CELEBRATED HIS SEVENTIETH B-DAY. WE HAD A BIG PARTY FOR HIM. MY SIBLINGS AND I PUT TOGETHER A HUGE SCRAPBOOK AND COLLABORATED ON SEVENTY THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT OUR FATHER.

I WROTE A SONG FOR HIM THAT I INTEND TO ONE DAY HAVE COMPOSED. TODAY I WILL POST THE SONG.

HEY, IF YOU ARE A COMPOSER AND WANT TO SET THIS TO MUSIC-LET’S TALK. HAHAHAH

AN EXTRAORDINARY MAN

Don’t be proud of me

Be proud of what you see

What you see inside yourself

It’s because of who you are

I am who I am

I follow your example

You’re an extraordinary man

You have always put us first

You were okay with being last

I cherish every moment

Every lesson you have passed

Passed on down-as a teacher would do

Blessed we were to be given to you

It’s because of who you are that I am who I am

I follow your example, you’re an extraordinary man

Listen don’t talk, give don’t take

Appreciate your hard work

And the money you make

Life is short-we don’t have much time

Make a difference-Find a way

Let your light shine

Treat others with respect

Don’t be taken for a fool

Following another’s path

Won’t make you cool

Discover who you are

Then soar high above

There is nothing more important than a father’s love

I follow your example you’re an extraordinary man

Have you ever met your guardian angel? I think I have and one day I will share that story. I have a collection of angels that I am very proud of. Each angel represents the person who gave it to me. I love receiving angels as a gift. My cabinet of angels symbolize the love I have received from many wonderful people throughout my life.

This week’s Thursday Thirteen will be about angels.

What do you collect?

1… Cassiel- according to my birthdate this is the name of my archangel. It’s assignation is creative power. I find that interesting because of the fact I love to write.

2… Michael- (His name represents He who is like God)The leader of all archangels. He was also the angel that defeated Lucifer. His symbol is the sword.

3… Angels can come in all shapes, sizes and forms. They usually take on an appearance that is most appealing to the individual requiring their help.

4…Anyone can call on an angel at anytime- All you have to do is ask.

5… Some signs that angels are near include- scents of flowers, distant or faint sounds of bells or chimes and light breezes.

6…Guardian angels are given to us at birth and follow us throughout life. They are our special angels.

7… Raphael is considered the Healer. It is said that if you see speckles of green light Raphael may be around. His season is Spring. He also helps with addiction and safety for traveling.

8…Angel Prayer –

Angel of God
My guardian Dear,
To Whom is love commits me here,
Ever this day (or night)
Be at my side
To light and guard,
To rule and guide.
Amen

9… The word angel comes from the Greek angelos and Latin angelas-both meaning messenger

10…Angels in art are often depicted wearing halos and wings

11…Today’s Angel is Angel of Harmony

12…Gabriel –Angel who announced the birth of Jesus to Mary- He advised Nothing is Impossible with God (I try to remember that phrase daily and at very low points)

13…Demons- are the fallen angels. Satan is the ruler of the fallen angels.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN KEEPING MY FATHER IN THEIR PRAYERS. THE SURGERY WENT WELL BUT WE HAVE MUCH MORE TO BATTLE SO CONTINUE TO PRAY.

I WILL LET THIS BE THE LAST PERSONAL BLOG FOR NOW.

I WILL POST SOMETHING MORE READER FRIENDLY IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE WELL WISHES AND CONTINUED SUPPORT.

STAY TUNED FOR UPCOMING POSTS

Today, there will be no Friday Song. I am currently at the hospital family lounge while my father is in the operating room having open heart surgery. My father has always been my Kong and to see him scared saddens me beyond words.

For all of those who read my post, I request that today you say a little prayer that all goes well. I have been blessed and I am fully aware that some people (a lot I am sure) will never receive a wonderful father such as I have.

Prayers, right now are our best ammunition.

Thirteen Things about Maribeth

Growing up, I loved to watch game shows. My mother was and still is very fond of game shows. Although, I haven’t the time to watch as much television these days as I did in the past, I still like to watch an occassional game show. This week I am listing thirteen games shows I have enjoyed, both past and present.

1…. Price Is Right (I still dream about being called on down. Switcheroo always seemed fun. I would love to spin the big wheel)

2… Tic Tac Dough (Loved this game, hated to see the dragon come up)

3… Press Your Luck (The original show was so much fun to watch. I loved to hate the whammy)

4… 10,000 Pyramid (I love any game that gives you clues and makes you guess the answer)

5… Concentration (players called out two numbers at a time to receive clues. They then had to attempt to guess the rebus) Loved this game, wish it was still on.

5… Wheel of Fortune (I once sent in a postcard hoping I would be chosen as a wheel participant. I think I am pretty good at this one)

6… Family Feud (I always told myself if my family was ever to go on this show I would have to be one of the two chosen for the final round) We had the home version, it was a blast having face-off’s with my sister.

7… Scrabble (I love the board game and loved the game show)

8… Let’s Make A Deal (Blast from the past-This was such a fun show)

9… Match Game (Celebrities helping the contestants by filling in the blanks-this was another great one)

10… Win Lose or Draw (I would have been good at guessing but not so well at drawing)

11… The Newlywed Game (Looking back I remember hearing the question-“How many times a week do you make Whoopee.” (Whoopee? funny stuff)

12… Name That Tune (Ooh I would have been terrible at this one)

13… Jeopardy (This is my game show of choice these days. At least I am learning something while watching this one)

What is or was your favorite?
